INGREDIENTS-
Bengal gram-1 cup
Idly dal-1/4 cup
Rice- 1/4 cup
Ginger-small piece peeled and chopped
Garlic-3 flakes
Onion- 2 chopped
Green chilies- 6-8
Masala powder- if required
Oil- required for frying
Salt- as required
Curry leaves- 2 tsps chopped
PROCEDURE-
Soak Bengal gram, idly dal, rice for about 5 hours and then grind it along with ginger, garlic and green chilies. Grind it with very little water and grind only once and care should be taken that this should not be made into fine paste. To this add onions, salt and curry leaves and mix well. Take a pan and heat oil in it and take the above mixture into required shapes and fry them in oil until red in colour. Serve hot.
SERVING TIP- Tastes best when served with tomato chutney or tomato sauce.
